Car
If you are traveling by car, the easiest way to reach Hartwick Pines State Park is to get on I-75 North from your location in East Michigan. Continue on I-75 North for approximately 35 miles. Take exit 259 for M-72 toward Grayling. Follow M-72 East for about 15 miles until you reach the intersection with State Park Drive. Turn left onto State Park Drive and follow it for about 2 miles. The park entrance will be on your left at 3612 State Park Dr, Grayling, MI 49738. Parking is available inside the park. Note that there is a vehicle entrance fee of $11 for Michigan residents and $13 for non-residents.
Public Transportation
If you are relying on public transportation, your best option is to take a Greyhound bus to Grayling, MI. Check the Greyhound website for schedules and prices. Once in Grayling, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to Hartwick Pines State Park, which is about 12 miles from downtown Grayling. Be prepared for the taxi fare, which could range from $25 to $35 depending on the service.
Bicycle
For the more adventurous, biking to Hartwick Pines State Park is a feasible option if you're nearby. From Grayling, you can take the Old 27 South route or the trails leading into the park. However, ensure you have a good map and plan for a safe route, as the roads can be busy with traffic. Bring a bike lock and be prepared for a scenic ride through the beautiful Michigan woods.
