Dune Climb: A Natural Wonder in Michigan's Sleeping Bear Dunes

Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, set your GPS to 6748 S Dune Hwy, Glen Arbor, MI 49636. From the entrance of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, head south on M-22 for approximately 6 miles. Turn left onto S Dune Hwy and continue for about 2 miles. The Dune Climb parking area will be on your left. Parking is free, but it can fill up quickly during peak times.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can take the Michigan Flyer bus service from nearby cities like Traverse City to Glen Arbor. The closest stop to Dune Climb is at the Glen Arbor township. From there, it's about a 2-mile walk to Dune Climb. Follow M-22 south, then turn left onto S Dune Hwy. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance for the best times.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous, consider biking to Dune Climb. Many bike rental shops are available in Glen Arbor. From Glen Arbor, take M-22 south and then S Dune Hwy. The route is flat and scenic, making it a pleasant ride. Just be cautious of traffic, especially during busy tourist seasons.

  If you are staying nearby in Glen Arbor and prefer to walk, head south on M-22 directly from the town center. After about 2 miles, turn left onto S Dune Hwy. It's a straightforward walk, but be sure to wear comfortable shoes as it can take about 40-45 minutes to reach Dune Climb.
