Discover more about Lusco's

Lusco's, located on Carrollton Avenue in Greenwood, Mississippi, is more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary landmark with a rich history dating back to the early 20th century. Italian immigrants Charles and Marie Lusco started a grocery store in 1921, which evolved into a restaurant known for blending Italian cuisine with Creole techniques. The restaurant's current location opened in 1933 and has maintained much of its original atmosphere. One of its most distinctive features is the private dining booths, enclosed by curtains, reminiscent of the Prohibition era when the restaurant was a popular gathering place for locals enjoying Papa Lusco's homebrew. These booths provided privacy and a sense of exclusivity, which continues to this day. Lusco's is renowned for its unique Italian-Creole cuisine, featuring dishes perfected by Mama Lusco and her daughters. The menu includes Mama's famous spaghetti, broiled shrimp in butter sauce, tender steaks, exceptional salads, and seasonal broiled pompano. The restaurant has been a place for family celebrations and milestones for many. Though it closed in 2021, Lusco's legacy continues.
