Walking
The Jackson County Historical Society is located within the Truman Courthouse on the Independence Square. From anywhere on the Square, walk towards the center. The Truman Courthouse is a large, white building that dominates the square. Enter the building and proceed to Suite 120 on the first floor to find the History Center.

Public Transport
While fixed-route bus lines in Independence have been largely replaced by the IRIS On-Demand transit service, the Route 24 still operates. Check the RideKC website for the most up-to-date information on routes and schedules. If using IRIS On-Demand, schedule a ride to the Truman Courthouse on the Independence Square. From the drop-off point, walk towards the center of the Square to the large, white Truman Courthouse. Enter the building and proceed to Suite 120 on the first floor. A one-way IRIS ride costs $5.
