Funds for the monument were collected by soldiers and officers of the 55th Podolsk Infantry Regiment.Originally located in the Bender Fortress next to the Alexander Nevsky Military Church, the monument was later moved to its current location on Panina Street during Soviet times. The monument is an obelisk made of gray labradorite, topped with a bronze eagle with spread wings. Inscriptions on the obelisk pay tribute to the valiant ancestors and the feats of the 55th Podolsk Infantry Regiment in the Patriotic War of 1812.Today, the monument is surrounded by landscaped gardens, providing a peaceful setting for visitors.
