Discover more about New National Museum of Monaco - Villa Paloma

The New National Museum of Monaco (NMNM) comprises two villas, Villa Paloma and Villa Sauber, with Villa Paloma being a dedicated space for contemporary art exhibitions. Situated near the Jardin Exotique, the pearly-white Villa Paloma was built in 1913 for an American and was acquired by the Principality in 1995. It became the second exhibition venue for the NMNM in 2010. The villa itself is a piece of art, featuring stained glass windows by local artist Fassi Cadet, period cornices, columns, and mosaics. Its terraced garden, designed by Octave Godard, a student of landscape architect Édouard André, retains its Italian garden appearance with a balcony overlooking the city and the sea. The four floors of the villa, connected by a grand staircase, provide ample space for displaying artwork. The NMNM aims to showcase Monaco's heritage and promote contemporary art through temporary exhibitions. Past exhibitions have included retrospectives of Erik Bulatov and Yinka Shonibare, as well as explorations of architecture and urbanisation in Monaco. In the summer of 2025, Villa Paloma will host "Les Années Folles de Coco Chanel," an exhibition exploring Gabrielle Chanel's prolific creative era during the 1920s on the Côte d'Azur. The museum also has an extensive collection of works relating to painter Kees van Dongen. Visitors can enjoy guided tours, explore the gardens, and appreciate the stunning views of Monaco. The museum also has a mediation space designed as a web media for visitors to consult digital content.
