Discover more about Princess Grace Japanese Garden

Nestled in the Larvotto ward of Monaco, the Princess Grace Japanese Garden offers a tranquil escape inspired by Shintoist philosophies. Commissioned by Prince Rainier III in 1994 and designed by landscape architect Yasuo Beppu, the 7,000 square-meter garden embodies Princess Grace's dream of having a Japanese garden in Monaco. The garden features a stylized mountain, waterfall, beach, brook, and a Zen garden designed for meditation. Visitors can explore winding paths showcasing cherry blossoms, bamboo groves, and stone lanterns. A central feature is the artificial lake, home to koi carp swimming among water lilies and lotus flowers. The garden blends Japanese tradition with Mediterranean touches, incorporating Mediterranean plants pruned in the Japanese style. Elements such as bamboo hedges, stone lanterns and wood for the tea house were brought from Japan. Open daily, the garden provides a serene environment for meditation and appreciation of Japanese landscape design. It's located next to the Grimaldi Forum, making it easily accessible. The garden is free to enter.
