From the center of Whitefish, head to the Whitefish City Hall bus stop. Board the Flathead Transit bus heading towards Kalispell. Make sure to check the bus schedule for departure times, as it may vary. Stay on the bus until you reach the Kalispell bus terminal. From there, you can either walk or take a local taxi or rideshare to Ashley Lake South Campground, which is approximately a 15-minute drive from the terminal.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Whitefish. Start your ride on the Whitefish Bike Path heading south. Continue following the path until you reach the intersection with US-93. Carefully cross US-93 and continue on the bike-friendly roads toward Kalispell. After roughly 10 miles, you will reach the Ashley Lake area. Look for signs directing you to the South Campground.

Walking to Ashley Lake South Campground is quite a trek, but if you are up for it, start from the center of Whitefish. Head south along 2nd Street, following it as it turns into Highway 93. Continue walking along the highway towards Kalispell for approximately 10 miles. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as this is a long walk. Once you reach the Kalispell area, look for signs that will direct you to Ashley Lake.
