Public Bus
Start at the Whitefish Depot located at 500 Baker Ave, Whitefish, MT 59937. Check the local bus schedule for the Flathead County Transit. Board the bus heading towards Kalispell. You will need to get off at the 'Kalispell East' stop. From there, transfer to the bus that goes towards Bigfork. Make sure to inform the driver that you are heading to Bigfork. Get off at the stop near the intersection of Montana Hwy 35 and Bigfork. From there, it’s about a 15-minute walk south along Montana Hwy 35 to reach Wayfarers / Flathead Lake State Park.

Bicycle Rental
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from a local shop in Whitefish. One popular option is the Whitefish Bike Retreat located at 1213 Columbia Ave, Whitefish, MT 59937. From the shop, head east on Columbia Ave until you reach the intersection with Baker Ave. Turn left onto Baker Ave, which becomes US-93. Follow US-93 south until you reach Bigfork. Once in Bigfork, follow the signs to Montana Hwy 35, and the park will be on your right. The ride will take about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace.

If you enjoy walking, it is quite a long trek to Bigfork from Whitefish, approximately 20 miles. Begin your walk at the Whitefish Depot. Head south on Baker Ave until you reach US-93. Follow the pedestrian path along US-93 until you reach Bigfork. Once you enter Bigfork, continue on Montana Hwy 35. The park is located at 8600 Montana Hwy 35, so keep an eye out for signage as you approach. This walk will take several hours, so ensure you have plenty of water and snacks.
