Getting There

  • Walking

    To reach Firehole Spring from the popular Old Faithful area, start by heading south on the paved walkways toward the Firehole Lake Drive. Continue walking for approximately 0.5 miles. You will cross a small bridge over the Firehole River; make sure to stop and take in the view. After crossing the bridge, keep following the path that leads you to the Firehole Lake Drive entrance. Once you reach the road, turn left and walk along the designated path. Firehole Spring will be on your right after about 0.4 miles.

    If you are at the Grand Prismatic Spring area, begin by walking north towards the Fairy Falls Trailhead. The trail is well-marked and will take you through beautiful scenery. After about a mile, you will reach a junction; take the left path leading towards Firehole Lake Drive. Follow this path for another 1.5 miles until you reach Firehole Lake Drive. Turn left and continue walking for another 0.3 miles, and Firehole Spring will be on your left side.

    From the Madison Junction area, head east on the walking trail that leads towards the Firehole Lake Drive. This path winds through the trees and offers several viewpoints along the way. After about 2 miles, you will come to the Firehole Lake Drive. Turn right and walk for another 1 mile. Firehole Spring will be on the right side of the road, marked by a small sign.
