From the Essaouira medina, start at Bab Marrakech, the main entrance to the old city. Walk straight down Avenue de l'Indépendance until you reach the intersection with Avenue Mohammed Zerktouni. Turn left onto Avenue Mohammed Zerktouni and continue walking until you reach the beach. Once you are at the beach, follow the coastline southward until you reach Plage Assafi. It will take approximately 30-40 minutes of walking.
