If you are in the Medina of Essaouira, start at the Place Moulay Hassan. From there, head southwest towards the coast. Walk along the Rue Laalouj and you will reach the beach in about 10 minutes. Continue walking along the beach promenade, enjoying the view, until you reach the ramparts. The iconic Essaouira ramparts will be directly in front of you.
