Getting There

• Walking

  Start from Patan Durbar Square, a central landmark in Patan. Head north towards the main road (Patan Dhoka). Once you reach the main road, turn right and walk towards the bridge leading into Kathmandu. After crossing the bridge, continue straight for about 1 kilometer. You will enter Thamel area, which is well-known for its vibrant atmosphere. Look for Thamel Marg on your left, just past the busy intersections filled with shops and cafes. It’s a popular street, so you won’t miss it!

• Public Transport (Microbus)

  From Patan, walk to the nearest microbus station located near Patan Durbar Square. Take a microbus heading towards Kathmandu; they are usually marked with their destination. Once on the bus, tell the conductor you want to get off at Thamel. The ride will take about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. When you reach Thamel, you can easily find Thamel Marg by following the signs or asking locals for directions.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops near Patan Durbar Square. Head north towards the main road (Patan Dhoka) and cross the bridge into Kathmandu. Continue cycling straight for approximately 1 kilometer. Keep an eye out for signs pointing to Thamel. You’ll find Thamel Marg just off the main road, and it’s a great place to explore further on your bike due to its lively streets.

• Rickshaw

  For a more relaxed journey, you can hire a rickshaw from anywhere in Patan. Tell the rickshaw driver to take you to Thamel Marg in Kathmandu. The ride will take about 15-25 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your trip. The rickshaw will drop you off right at the entrance of Thamel, from where you can explore the vibrant street.
