Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, use a GPS or navigation app to enter the address: Joseph Smeetslaan 280, 3630 Maasmechelen, Belgium. From Maastricht, drive on the N278 towards Belgium. After crossing the border, continue on the N76 and follow signs for Maasmechelen. Once in Maasmechelen, follow local signs for Mechelse Heide. There is parking available near the nature reserve.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Mechelse Heide via public transportation, take a train to the nearest major station, which is 'Maastricht'. From Maastricht train station, look for bus line 9 that goes to Maasmechelen. You can purchase a ticket at the station or on the bus (exact fare required). Disembark at the bus stop 'Maasmechelen, Beekstraat'. From there, it's about a 15-minute walk to Mechelse Heide; simply follow the signs or use a maps app for directions.

  For those who wish to cycle, you can rent a bike in Maasmechelen. Follow the cycling paths along the N76 towards Joseph Smeetslaan. Cycling from the center of Maasmechelen to Mechelse Heide takes about 10-15 minutes, depending on your pace.
