Amsterdamse Poort: The Gateway to Haarlem's Rich History

Getting There

• Walking

  From Utrecht Central Station, exit the station and head towards the bus terminal. Look for bus line 300, which goes to Haarlem. Get on the bus and enjoy the scenic ride, which takes about 50 minutes. Once you arrive at Haarlem Station, exit the bus and walk straight ahead. You will see signs directing you to the city center. Follow the signs to reach the Amsterdamse Poort, a historical landmark located in the Old Town, which should take you around 10 minutes on foot.

• Train

  At Utrecht Central Station, purchase a ticket to Haarlem. Trains to Haarlem depart frequently and the journey takes approximately 30 minutes. When you arrive at Haarlem Station, exit the station and follow the signs to the city center. Walk straight for about 15 minutes towards the Old Town, where you will find the Amsterdamse Poort. Look for the large archway that marks the entrance to the historic area.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops near Utrecht Central Station. From there, follow the designated bike paths towards Haarlem, which is approximately 40 kilometers away. The ride is scenic and takes about 2 hours. Upon arriving in Haarlem, navigate towards the Old Town area, where the Amsterdamse Poort is located. Follow the signs for historical landmarks.
