If you are driving from North Jersey, take the Garden State Parkway South. Merge onto the New Jersey Turnpike I-95 South towards Philadelphia. Then, take exit 11 for Route 36 East towards Atlantic Highlands. Follow Route 36 East until you reach the intersection with Hudson Road. Turn right onto Hudson Road, and continue for about 1 mile. The entrance to Gateway National Recreation Area will be on your left at 26 Hudson Rd, Highlands, NJ 07732. Parking is available on-site.

From North Jersey, take a NJ Transit train from your nearest station to the Long Branch station. Upon arriving at Long Branch, transfer to the NJ Transit bus #834 towards Atlantic Highlands. The bus will take you along Route 36. Get off at the stop for Hudson Road. From there, it is a short walk to the entrance of Gateway National Recreation Area located at 26 Hudson Rd, Highlands, NJ 07732.
