Car
From any point in Gila National Forest, get onto NM-15 S, which is a main road through the forest. Follow NM-15 S for approximately 15 miles until you reach the junction with NM-35. Continue on NM-15 S until you reach the intersection with NM-35. Turn left onto NM-35 S. Drive for about 7 miles until you reach the small community of Glenwood. In Glenwood, take a right onto Waterton Valley Road. Follow this road for about 5 miles, and you will arrive at the Middle Fork of the Gila River, which is characterized by scenic views and access points along the water.

Public transportation options are limited in the Gila National Forest. The closest bus service is to Silver City, which is approximately 50 miles away. You can take an intercity bus from Silver City to Glenwood. Once you arrive in Glenwood, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service, as there is no direct public transport to Middle Fork, Gila River. The taxi ride will take about 15 minutes.
