If you are driving within White Sands National Park, start from the park's visitor center located at 19955 Highway 70, Alamogordo, NM 88310. From the visitor center, head southeast on US-70 E for approximately 15 miles. Take the exit toward White Sands National Monument and follow the signs. After entering the park, continue on the main road for about 5 miles until you reach the White Sands Gate, which is marked clearly with signage. Note that there is an entrance fee of $5 per person, or $20 per vehicle, which is valid for 7 days.
