Walking
If you are in the White Sands area, the White Sands Historic District is approximately 15 miles east of the main entrance to White Sands National Park. Begin by walking towards the nearest bus stop or shuttle service that heads towards Alamogordo. Once at the bus stop, take a bus that travels east towards Alamogordo. After about a 30-minute ride, disembark at the Alamogordo stop. From there, head north on US-54 for about 1 mile until you reach the intersection with US-70. Cross at the pedestrian crossing and continue walking east on US-70 for about 0.5 miles. The White Sands Historic District will be on your right. Look for the historical markers and the entrance.

Biking
For a more adventurous route, consider renting a bike from a local shop in White Sands or Alamogordo. Start your journey by biking towards Alamogordo on the main road. The ride will be around 15 miles and will take approximately 1 hour depending on your cycling speed. Follow the same route as pedestrians: head east from the entrance of White Sands National Park, bike along US-70, and keep an eye out for the signs that denote the White Sands Historic District. The district will be on your right side.

Public Transport (Shuttle/Bus)
Check local transport schedules for any shuttle services or buses that may run from White Sands National Park to Alamogordo. Board a bus heading towards Alamogordo and make sure to ask the driver if they stop near the White Sands Historic District. Disembark at the nearest stop to the intersection of US-54 and US-70. Once you get off, continue walking east along US-70 for about half a mile until you reach the district entrance.
