Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of Montauk, start at the Montauk Train Station. Exit the station and head south on Station Road until you reach the intersection with Montauk Highway (Route 27). Turn left onto Montauk Highway. Continue walking east on Montauk Highway for about 1.5 miles. You'll pass several shops and restaurants along the way. Keep an eye out for the entrance to Hither Hills State Park on your left at 164 Old Montauk Hwy. The park entrance is well marked, and you will see a sign indicating Hither Hills State Park.

• Bicycle

  If you have access to a bicycle rental, start at the Montauk Train Station. Head south on Station Road and turn left onto Montauk Highway (Route 27). Cycle east for approximately 1.5 miles, enjoying the views along the highway. Look for the entrance to Hither Hills State Park on your left at 164 Old Montauk Hwy. The park is accessible by bike, and there is bike parking available at the entrance.

  From any location in Montauk, make your way to the nearest bus stop along Montauk Highway. You can take the Suffolk County Transit bus route S92, which travels along Montauk Highway. Board the bus heading east towards East Hampton. Request the stop at Hither Hills State Park, which is located at 164 Old Montauk Hwy. The bus runs regularly during the day, so check the schedule for exact times. Once you arrive, you can enter the park and start exploring.
