From any point in Newmarket, head towards Broadway and find the nearest bus stop. Board any bus heading towards Mount Eden. The bus ride should take approximately 10-15 minutes. Get off at the stop near the corner of Mount Eden Road and Epsom Road. From there, it is about a 10-minute walk to the base of Maungawhau / Mount Eden. Head up Mount Eden Road; you will see signs directing you to the summit.

If you're near the Newmarket Train Station, you can take the Southern Line train towards Britomart and get off at the next stop, which is Mt Eden. From Mt Eden Station, exit and walk down to Mount Eden Road. It’s about a 15-minute walk from the train station to the base of the hill. Follow Mount Eden Road up to the entrance of Maungawhau / Mount Eden.
