From Fox Glacier, start by heading north on State Highway 6 (SH6). Continue for approximately 20 kilometers until you reach the turn-off for Franz Josef. Follow the signs to Franz Josef Township. Once in the township, look for signs directing you to the Canavans Knob walk. The parking area is located at the end of the access road near the trailhead.
