Walking
Start at the Rotorua i-SITE Visitor Centre located at 1167 Fenton Street. Head south on Fenton Street towards the intersection with Victoria Street. Continue on Victoria Street and take a left onto Ranolf Street. Walk straight for about 1 km until you reach the intersection with Te Ngae Road. Cross over to the other side of Te Ngae Road and follow the signs for Whakarewarewa. You will enter the Whakarewarewa area where the Wairewarewa Mudpools Viewing Area is located. Keep walking until you see the signs directing you to the mudpools.

Public Transport
From the Rotorua i-SITE Visitor Centre, catch the local bus service that heads towards Whakarewarewa. Buses run regularly, so check the schedule at the i-SITE for the next departure. Get off at the Whakarewarewa stop and follow the signs to Wairewarewa Mudpools Viewing Area. It should be a short walk from the bus stop.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the local bike rental shops in Rotorua. Start at the Rotorua i-SITE Visitor Centre and head south on Fenton Street. Turn left onto Victoria Street and continue until you reach Ranolf Street. Follow Ranolf Street to Te Ngae Road, and then follow the signs to Whakarewarewa. The cycling distance is approximately 3 km, and it should take around 15-20 minutes.
