If you are near the Rotorua i-SITE Visitor Centre located at 1167 Fenton Street, you can start your journey on foot. Head southeast on Fenton Street toward Pukuatua Street, then turn left onto Pukuatua Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Hemo Road. Turn right onto Hemo Road. Te Puia will be on your left after approximately 1.2 kilometers, at 20 Hemo Road, Whakarewarewa.

You can take the local bus service to reach Te Puia. Board the 'Rotorua - Whakarewarewa' bus from any major bus stop in Rotorua. The bus will take you directly to the Whakarewarewa stop. After disembarking, walk approximately 500 meters east on Hemo Road, and Te Puia will be on your right at 20 Hemo Road.
