Starting from Apoyo Lagoon, head southeast on the main road, towards the town of Masaya. Take the highway NIC-4, which is well-marked. Continue driving for approximately 16 kilometers until you reach Km 16, where the Zoológico Nacional de Nicaragua is located on your right. Look for signs indicating the zoo as you approach.

From Apoyo Lagoon, take a local bus or taxi to the town of Masaya. Buses are frequent and cost around 15-20 Nicaraguan Córdoba (approx. $0.50). Once in Masaya, look for a bus heading towards Managua or directly to the Zoológico Nacional. This bus will drop you off near Km 16 on NIC-4, and from there, it’s a short walk to the zoo entrance.
