Getting There

• Public Transportation

  From the center of Charlotte, head to the nearest LYNX Blue Line light rail station, which is typically the 'Trade Street' station. Board the light rail heading north towards 'I-485/South Blvd'. Stay on the train until you reach the 'University City' station. From there, transfer to the CATS Bus Route 77 (the 'North Tryon' route) at the nearby bus stop. Ride the bus towards 'Huntersville' and get off at the 'Sample Road' stop. Walk approximately 0.5 miles along Sample Road until you reach the entrance of Latta Nature Preserve.

• Biking

  If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bike from a local bike-sharing program. Start at the 'Romare Bearden Park' in downtown Charlotte. Follow the bike path along the Charlotte Rail Trail heading north until you reach the 'I-277' overpass. Cross under 'I-277' and continue north on 'North Tryon Street'. After approximately 6 miles, turn right onto 'Sample Road', following the signs for Latta Nature Preserve. Continue on Sample Road for another mile to reach the preserve's entrance.

• Walking

  For those who enjoy a long walk, start at 'Marshall Park' in downtown Charlotte. Head north on 'North College Street', then take a left onto 'East 6th Street'. Continue walking until you reach 'North Tryon Street' and follow it northward. After approximately 8 miles, turn right onto 'Sample Road'. Walk along Sample Road for about 1 mile, and you will arrive at the entrance to Latta Nature Preserve.
