From most locations in Sandhills, get onto US-1 S or NC-211 S, depending on your starting point. Continue on US-1 S until you reach NC-87 S in the direction of Elizabethtown. Merge onto NC-87 S and follow it until you see signs for NC-242. Turn onto NC-242, and you will find the entrance to Bladen Lakes State Forest shortly after. There is no entrance fee for the forest.

For those using public transportation, take a Greyhound bus to Elizabethtown. From the bus station, you will need to call a local taxi service or use a rideshare app to get to Bladen Lakes State Forest, as there is no direct public transit to the forest. The taxi ride will cost approximately $15-$25, depending on the exact distance from the bus station to the forest entrance. It's advisable to book your taxi in advance if possible.

If you are an adventurous cyclist, you can bike to Bladen Lakes State Forest. Starting from Elizabethtown, head south on NC-242. The ride is approximately 12 miles and will take you through scenic rural landscapes.
