If you're traveling via car, start by navigating to Uwharrie National Forest. If you are in the forest already, head towards Highway 109. From Highway 109, take the exit onto Thayer Road (County Road 1005). Continue on Thayer Road for approximately 1.5 miles. You should see the Joe Moffitt Trailhead entrance on your right at 998 Thayer Rd, Troy, NC 27371. There is a small parking area available.

While public transportation options are limited in rural areas, you can take a bus to Troy, NC. From the Troy bus station, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach the Joe Moffitt Trailhead. This will be approximately a 15-minute drive (about 7 miles) from the bus station. If you are unable to secure a taxi, you can consider walking from the bus station. The walk is about 1.5 hours and will require you to follow Thayer Road directly to the trailhead.
