From Wadi Bani Khalid, head southeast on Route 23 towards the town of Al Qabil. After approximately 25 kilometers, look for road signs directing you towards the Wahiba Sands. Take the exit for Route 23A, which will lead you directly to the entrance of Wahiba Sands. The drive will take about 30 minutes. Ensure that you have a 4WD vehicle, as the terrain can be sandy and challenging.

While public transportation options are limited, you can take a local bus or shared taxi (called a 'taxi' in Oman) from Wadi Bani Khalid to the nearest town, Al Qabil. From there, you will need to hire a 4WD taxi to take you into Wahiba Sands. The bus fare to Al Qabil is approximately 2 Omani Rials, and the shared taxi fare to Wahiba Sands should be negotiated, usually around 10-15 Omani Rials depending on the number of passengers.
