Getting There

• Car

  To reach Sky Lakes Wilderness from most locations in Rogue Valley, start by getting on I-5 North from your location in Medford or Ashland. Drive for approximately 30 miles until you reach Exit 33 for Klamath Falls. Merge onto OR-140 East. Continue on OR-140 for about 25 miles until you reach the city of Klamath Falls. Once in Klamath Falls, continue on OR-140 and then take a left onto OR-97 North. After driving for about 7 miles, look for signs leading to the Sky Lakes Wilderness area. Follow the signs and road markers to the designated trailheads. Be prepared for unpaved roads as you approach the wilderness area.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, first take a bus from Medford to Klamath Falls. The Rogue Valley Transportation District (RVTD) operates services that can take you to Klamath Falls. Once you arrive at the Klamath Falls bus terminal, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to the Sky Lakes Wilderness area. Confirm with local taxi services about accessibility to the wilderness area as it may require additional travel on unpaved roads.

• Bicycling

  For the more adventurous, biking to Sky Lakes Wilderness is an option. Starting in Klamath Falls, take OR-140 East and then follow OR-97 North. Ensure you have adequate supplies and a good map, as biking will require navigating both paved and unpaved roads. The distance from Klamath Falls to the Sky Lakes Wilderness area is approximately 15 miles, so plan accordingly for a physically demanding ride.
