Getting There

Car
If you are traveling by car within Deosai National Park, you will need to drive towards the Skardu region. From Skardu, head towards the Deosai National Park entrance. The road can be bumpy, so ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain. Once you reach the entrance of Deosai National Park, continue driving on the main road until you reach the Sheosar Lake area. The K2 Base Camp trek starts from the Askole village, which is around 30 kilometers from Sheosar Lake. You will need to park your vehicle at the designated parking area and continue on foot.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a jeep from Skardu to Deosai National Park. These jeeps are available near Hussaini Chowk, Star Market. The ride may cost around PKR 2,500-3,500 depending on the season and availability. The jeep will take you to the entrance of the park. From there, you will need to trek towards K2 Base Camp. The trek starts in Askole, which is approximately 30 kilometers away. You can hire a local guide or join a trekking group for assistance as it is essential to navigate the trails safely.

Trekking
Once you reach Askole village, you will begin your trek to K2 Base Camp. The trek is approximately 60 kilometers and typically takes 4-5 days. It's crucial to be well-prepared with proper trekking gear, food supplies, and a good guide. You will follow the Baltoro Glacier route, passing through stunning landscapes and various campsites until you reach K2 Base Camp. The trek is challenging and requires acclimatization, so it's advised to take it at a steady pace.
