Getting There

  From the center of Ngardmau, start by heading east on the main road, which is known locally as Ngardmau Road. Continue walking straight for about 1 mile until you reach the junction with the Airai Road. You should see a sign indicating the direction to Airai. Turn left onto Airai Road and continue for approximately 0.5 miles. As you walk, you will pass by local shops and residential areas, which will give you a taste of the local culture. Keep an eye out for the signposts directing you toward the Japan-Palau Friendship Bridge. After another 0.3 miles, you will see the bridge ahead. The bridge is located just off the road, and you can access it by following the path that leads directly to the bridge.

  If you have access to a bicycle, start from the Ngardmau central area and ride east along Ngardmau Road. After about 1 mile, you will reach the intersection with Airai Road. Turn left and continue riding for about 0.5 miles. The route is relatively flat, making it an easy ride. As you approach the bridge, look out for the signs that indicate the Japan-Palau Friendship Bridge. Once you spot the bridge, park your bicycle at the designated area near the entrance and walk the short distance to enjoy the views.

  While public transport options may be limited in Ngardmau, you can look for a local bus or shuttle service that heads toward Airai. Ask locals for the nearest bus stop and the schedule, as they can vary. Once on the bus, inform the driver that you’re going to the Japan-Palau Friendship Bridge. The journey should take about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. After disembarking, follow the signs to the bridge, which should be a short walk from the bus drop-off point.
