Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car within Allegheny National Forest, start by heading towards Driftwood, PA. From the center of Driftwood, take Route 120 East. After about 2.5 miles, turn left onto Mason Hill Road. Follow Mason Hill Road for approximately 1 mile until you reach Bucktail Overlook (Top of the World) at 218 Mason Hill Rd, Driftwood, PA 15832. There is ample parking available at the overlook.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options are limited in this remote area. The nearest bus service may be found in larger towns like Williamsport or Coudersport. From either location, you will need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service to reach Driftwood. Once in Driftwood, follow the car directions provided above to reach Bucktail Overlook. Be sure to check local bus schedules and availability ahead of time to ensure a smooth transfer.

• Bicycle

  For those interested in cycling, you can ride from Driftwood to Bucktail Overlook. Start in Driftwood and take Route 120 East for about 2.5 miles, then turn left onto Mason Hill Road. The road is hilly, so be prepared for a challenging ride. Always wear a helmet and be cautious of traffic, especially on Route 120.

• Hiking

  If you enjoy hiking, you can park your car in Driftwood and hike to Bucktail Overlook. This will involve a scenic but challenging trek through the woods and up the hill.
