Getting There

• Train and Bus

  From Setúbal, walk to the Setúbal train station (Estação Ferroviária de Setúbal). Purchase a ticket for the train to 'Praia da Comporta'. The train journey takes approximately 25 minutes. Once you arrive at Praia da Comporta, head to the bus stop outside the station. Take the bus towards Melides, which runs regularly. The ride will take about 30 minutes. Get off at the Melides stop, and from there, you can either walk (approximately 20 minutes) or take a taxi to Lagoa de Melides.

• Bus

  If you prefer to travel by bus directly, you can take the 'Rede Expressos' bus from Setúbal to Melides. The bus departs from the main bus terminal in Setúbal. The trip takes roughly 1 hour. Once you arrive in Melides, you can walk to Lagoa de Melides, which is about a 30-minute walk from the bus stop. Follow the signs towards the lake or ask locals for directions.

• Bicycle Rental

  For a more adventurous route, consider renting a bicycle in Setúbal. Once you have rented your bicycle, head east towards the N253 road. Follow this road until you reach the junction with the N261, then turn towards Melides. The ride is approximately 17 kilometers and offers scenic views along the way. Upon reaching Melides, continue to Lagoa de Melides, which is a short ride from the town center.

• Walking

  If you are up for a long walk, you can hike from Setúbal to Lagoa de Melides. Start your journey by heading south to the coastline and follow the scenic route towards Melides. This trek will take approximately 4-5 hours, so ensure you have enough water and snacks. Once you reach Melides, Lagoa de Melides is a short walk away, following the signs to the lake.
