Walking
From the center of Vila Real, head west on Avenida 10 de Junho towards Rua de Cândido dos Reis. Continue until you reach the intersection with Rua de João de Almeida. Turn left onto Rua de João de Almeida. Proceed straight until you reach the roundabout near Parque Natural do Alvão. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto N2. Follow this road until you reach the designated trailhead leading to Ilhéu Ínsua, which is located approximately 3 km from the roundabout. The trail is well-marked, and you will find signs directing you to Ilhéu Ínsua.
Biking
Start at Praça da República in Vila Real. Rent a bike from a local rental shop if you haven't already. Head north on Rua de D. Afonso Henriques, then turn right onto Avenida 10 de Junho. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout near Parque Natural do Alvão. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto N2. Follow the road for about 3 km, and look for bike-friendly paths leading to Ilhéu Ínsua. The paths are scenic and provide a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape.
Public Transport (Bus)
From the center of Vila Real, walk to the nearest bus station located at Avenida de Cândido dos Reis. Purchase a ticket for a bus heading towards Alvão. Board the bus and stay on until you reach the stop near Parque Natural do Alvão. From the bus stop, it is approximately a 30-minute walk to Ilhéu Ínsua. Follow the marked walking trails leading to the area.
