Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Monte Café, start by heading northeast on the main road towards São Tomé city. After approximately 15 km, look for a sign indicating the direction to Pico Cão Grande. Take the left turn onto the road leading to Monte Mario. Continue along this road for about 5 km until you reach the designated parking area near the view point. Make sure to park safely and pay any required parking fees if applicable.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Pico Cão Grande by public transportation, start at the nearest bus stop in Monte Café. Look for a bus or shared taxi heading towards São Tomé city. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the turnoff for Pico Cão Grande. After approximately 15 km, get off at the intersection and wait for a local taxi to take you the remaining 5 km to the view point. The taxi fare should be negotiated beforehand, typically around 5-10 STN (São Tomé Dobra) depending on the driver.

• Walking

  If you are adventurous and prefer walking, after arriving at the turnoff from the main road, you can hike the remaining distance (approximately 5 km) to Pico Cão Grande. Follow the dirt path that leads up the hill. Be prepared for a moderately challenging hike and ensure you have sufficient water and proper footwear. This option allows you to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
