Getting There

• Public Bus

  To reach Rtanj from the center of Niš, start by heading to the main bus station, which is located at Bulevar Nemanjića 50. You can get there by walking or taking a taxi. At the bus station, look for buses heading towards the town of Sokobanja. The journey will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at Sokobanja (the stop is called 'Sokobanja - Centar'), you will need to transfer to a local minibus or taxi that goes to Rtanj. The minibus typically runs every 30 minutes, and the ride will take about 30 minutes. Make sure to inform the driver to drop you off at the designated area for hikers heading to Rtanj.

• Guided Tour

  Another option to visit Rtanj is to join a guided tour that departs from Niš. Many local travel agencies offer day trips to Rtanj, which usually include transportation from Niš, a guide, and sometimes additional amenities such as meals. You can book these tours online or at local travel agencies in Niš. The tour will generally pick you up from a central location in Niš, such as the Niš Fortress, and take you directly to Rtanj, providing commentary and assistance throughout the trip.

• Bicycle Rental

  If you are feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Niš and cycle to Rtanj. There are several bicycle rental shops near Niš City Park. Once you have your bicycle, head towards the main road leading out of Niš towards the east. Follow the roads that lead to Sokobanja, as you will need to pass through there to reach Rtanj. The total cycling distance is approximately 35 kilometers. This journey will take around 2-3 hours, depending on your speed and the route you choose. Make sure to have a map or GPS, and consider the terrain as it may become hilly as you approach Rtanj.
