Getting There

  • Car

    From Port Loko District, head south towards the main road connecting to Freetown. Follow the signs to the Western Area Peninsula. After approximately 1 hour of driving, you will reach the junction at Waterloo. Turn left at the junction and continue for about 30 minutes until you reach the entrance of Western Area National Park located at 8RHX+JJM, Tokeh. Ensure you have cash for any entrance fees that may apply.

  • Public Transportation

    To use public transportation, take a ' poda poda' (shared minibus) from Port Loko to Freetown. Once you arrive in Freetown, transfer to another ' poda poda' heading towards Waterloo. Get off at the Waterloo junction. From there, you can either take a taxi or another ' poda poda' directly to Tokeh. The total travel time may take around 2 to 3 hours, depending on traffic. Be prepared to pay for each segment of your journey, with typical fares being around 5,000-10,000 Leones per ride.
