Car
If you're traveling by car, first make your way to the nearest major town, which is Gizo located on the island of Ghizo. From Gizo, head to the Gizo Jetty where you will need to park your vehicle. Ensure to check the jetty’s security arrangements for parking. The drive from Gizo to the jetty takes about 10-15 minutes. Once at the jetty, look for a boat service heading to Uepi Island. You may need to book your boat ride in advance, so ensure to check the local schedules and availability.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, take a bus or taxi to Gizo from your starting location, which could be Honiara or any other town on the mainland. The bus ride from Honiara to Gizo can take several hours, so plan accordingly. Once in Gizo, proceed to the Gizo Jetty. There, you will find boat services that can take you to Uepi. Make sure to confirm the schedule for boat departures and inquire about fares, which can vary depending on the service.
Boat
After reaching Gizo Jetty, you will need to board a boat to reach Uepi Island. The boat ride typically takes about 1 to 2 hours, depending on the weather and sea conditions. It's advisable to check the boat service timetable ahead of time, as they may not run frequently. The cost for the boat ride can vary, so be prepared to pay between $20 to $50 AUD per person. Ensure you have cash on hand as card payments may not be accepted.
