Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start from the Royal Natal National Park gate and follow the main road (R622) leading into the park. Continue until you reach the signs for the various attractions. Look for signs directing you to Alpine Cascades, which is located near the Alpine Heath Resort. The drive is scenic and should take approximately 30 minutes. Ensure to have a valid entry permit for the park, which can be purchased at the gate.

• Public Transport

  While public transport options within the Royal Natal National Park are limited, you can use local taxi services (commonly referred to as 'combi taxis') that operate between towns near the park. From the nearest town, Bergville, you can catch a taxi to the park entrance. After arriving at the park, you may need to hike or arrange for a local guide to take you to Alpine Cascades, as public transport does not reach this specific attraction directly.

• Hiking

  If you find yourself at the Alpine Heath Resort, you can hike to Alpine Cascades. The hike is well-marked and takes about 1 hour. Follow the trails from the resort that lead into the surrounding nature, and look for signs pointing towards the cascades. Bring appropriate hiking gear and ensure you have enough water, as the path can be steep and requires a moderate level of fitness.
