From Black Elk Peak, start by heading west on SD-244. Continue on SD-244 for approximately 2 miles until you reach the junction with US-16. Turn left (south) onto US-16 and continue for about 5 miles. Look for the signs for Keystone, SD. After reaching Keystone, turn left onto SD-40. Follow SD-40 for about 2 miles until you reach the entrance to the Black Elk Wilderness area.
