Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by navigating to Alicante. The most common route is via the A-7 motorway if you are coming from areas like Benidorm or Altea. Once you arrive in Alicante, follow the signs to the city center. Look for the exit towards Castillo de Santa Bàrbara, which will lead you to the base of the mountain where the castle is located. There is usually parking available near the base, but be prepared for parking fees that may apply.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Castell de Santa Bàrbara via public transportation, take a train or a bus to Alicante. From the Alicante train station (Estación de Alicante), you can catch the TRAM (Line 1) towards 'Benidorm' and get off at 'Alicante Centro' stop. From there, you can either walk (approximately 20 minutes) following signs to the Castillo, or take Bus L1 from 'Plaza de los Luceros' to the base of the castle. There may be a small fare for the bus, usually around €1.50.

• Walking

  If you are already within walking distance in Alicante, you can simply head towards the castle by following the signs from the city center. The walk from the main plaza (Plaza del Ayuntamiento) to the castle will take about 30-40 minutes. The route is uphill, so wear comfortable shoes and be ready for a bit of a climb.   Another unique way to reach Castell de Santa Bàrbara is by taking the cable car from the beach area of Alicante (Postiguet Beach). The cable car runs from the beach directly to the castle.
