Getting There

Car
From Ratnapura town, head south on the A4 road. Continue for about 4 kilometers until you reach the junction at the local market area. Take the left turn onto the J9 road (Hathbamba Road). Continue on this road for about 5 kilometers. You will see signs for Hathbamba Ella Waterfall. Follow the signs and park your car at the designated parking area near the waterfall entrance. Please note that you may have to pay a small parking fee, typically around LKR 100.

Public Transportation
From Ratnapura town, take a local bus heading towards Balangoda. Inform the conductor that you want to get off at the Hathbamba junction. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the junction, you will need to hire a tuk-tuk or walk the remaining 2 kilometers to the waterfall. A tuk-tuk ride will cost around LKR 300 to LKR 400 depending on negotiation. If you choose to walk, enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.

If you are already at the Hathbamba junction from the bus stop, the waterfall is about a 30-minute walk. Follow the road leading away from the junction, and keep an eye out for signs directing you to Hathbamba Ella Waterfall. The path is mostly flat but may have some uneven terrain, so wear appropriate footwear.
