Getting There

Walking
Start at Zermatt's main train station (Bahnhof Zermatt). Exit the station and head towards Bahnhofplatz. From there, follow the signs to the Gornergrat railway station. Walk along Bahnhofstrasse, which will take you directly to the station. Once you reach the Gornergrat station, take the cogwheel train to Gornergrat (the ticket can be purchased at the station). After enjoying the view at Gornergrat, follow the signs for the 5 Lakes Walk (5-Seenweg) which starts from the top. You will see signs indicating the route.

Cable Car
From Zermatt, walk to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise cable car station (you can follow the signs from the train station). Purchase your ticket at the station and take the cable car to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. Once you arrive, follow the signs that direct you to the 5 Lakes Walk starting point. The trail is well-marked and you will have stunning views along the way.

Hiking
If you prefer a more challenging route, you can hike up to the 5 Lakes Walk starting point. Begin your hike at Zermatt, taking the trail towards the Gornergrat, or head towards Sunnegga. The Sunnegga funicular can also take you part of the way up. From Sunnegga, you will have a shorter hike to the 5 Lakes Walk trailhead, which is well-marked. Make sure to check a local map for the specific hiking paths.
