From downtown Memphis, take the MATA bus route 40 (Summer Avenue). Board the bus at the Main St. and Peabody Place stop. Ride the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the stop at Summer Ave and Perkins Rd. Get off the bus and walk north along Perkins Rd for about 0.3 miles, then turn right onto Summer Ave. The Ell Persons Historical Marker will be on your left after about a 10-minute walk.

Start at the intersection of Central Ave and Cleveland St. Walk east along Central Ave until you reach Summer Ave. Turn right onto Summer Ave and continue walking for approximately 1.5 miles. The marker will be on your right near the intersection with Perkins Rd.
