Aryu speaks excellent English. He is a fountain of knowledge who creates something every 30 minutes while walking in the jungle and explaining the culture, nature, and even the politics of the country. He entertains teenagers and children while fascinating the older ones. We were welcomed by Ayi, who is a lovely man and a fine cook; he had prepared a top-notch room for us. Spartan shower but hot water, please. No, really, spend a day, two days with him; I let you enjoy his kindness, inventiveness, and energy. You won't regret it! I hope you have room in your suitcase for all the souvenirs he makes for you in the jungle. Aryu! A big thank you to you!

Fantastic Chiang Rai Trek

This was a wonderful experience. The guides Wat and Mou were so friendly and helpful that you felt you were among friends. They were so accommodating and caring. They made sure we went at a pace that was comfortable and stopped when we wanted to take a breather which was a few times. The trek itself was strenuous in the beginning and slightly towards the end but as long as your physically fit it should be fine. The views were stunning and the food they made with the bamboo was exquisite. They do provide wooden sticks to walk with and I strongly advise you to take one. Take 2 bottles of water and you have the opportunity to buy some in 2 places. In conclusion Mou and Wat were amazing and made a physical day fun.

Discovering life in Chiang Rai jungle and hill tribe villages - a unique experience with Arju

Starting from Chiang Rai, we went for a one-day jungle walk and visit of hill tribe villages. We thoroughly enjoyed the excursion not only because of the amazing experience of discovering landscape and plants in the jungle West of Chiang Rai, but even more so thanks to the exceptional personality of Arju, the founder of RU and our guide. Arju who has family links to China grew up in an Akha village where he learned all the traditional skills required to live in the jungle. Fluent in English and well-reflected, he excelled in providing us with an understanding of the various layers of the roots and contemporary culture of the hill tribe villages, including amazing demonstrations of how to cook a delicious meal on an open fire with bamboo utensils freshly cut and how to use a machete for everyday jungle life.
