Monument au Mort Kpalimé: A Tribute to Valor

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the Kpalimé town center, head southeast on Avenue du 4 Août towards Rue de l'Indépendance. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Rue de la Révolution. Turn right onto Rue de la Révolution and walk for about 500 meters until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Avenue de l'Université. Walk along this road for approximately 1 kilometer. As you approach the outskirts of the town, you will see a sign indicating the direction to Monument au mort. Follow the path leading to the monument, which is located on an unnamed road just off Avenue de l'Université. The total walking distance is about 1.5 kilometers and should take around 20-25 minutes.

• Bicycle

  Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Kpalimé. Start from the central market area and head southeast on Avenue du 4 Août. Continue straight until you reach Rue de la Révolution, then turn right. Ride along Rue de la Révolution for about 500 meters until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Avenue de l'Université. Cycle down this road for about 1 kilometer. Look for signs directing you to Monument au mort as you near the outskirts. The monument is located on an unnamed road just off Avenue de l'Université. The total cycling distance is around 1.5 kilometers and should take about 10-15 minutes.

• Public Transport

  From the Kpalimé bus station, take a moto-taxi (a shared motorcycle taxi) towards the direction of Monument au mort. Tell the driver you want to go to 'Monument au mort' or show them the location on your phone. The ride should take around 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. The moto-taxi will drop you off near the entrance of the monument, and from there, it is just a short walk to the site.
