Getting There

  • Car

    From Penal-Debe, head north on the SS Erin Road (also known as the Southern Main Road). Follow the road for approximately 15 kilometers until you reach the exit for the Uriah Butler Highway. Merge onto the Uriah Butler Highway heading towards Chaguanas. After about 4 kilometers, take the exit towards the Caroni area and continue straight onto Caroni South Bank Road. After approximately 5 kilometers, turn left onto Orange Grove Road. The Caroni Bird Sanctuary will be located on your right at 65 Orange Grove Rd. Make sure to check for parking options upon arrival.

  • Public Transportation

    From Penal-Debe, you can take a taxi or a minibus heading to Port of Spain. Ask the driver to drop you off at the corner of the Uriah Butler Highway and Caroni South Bank Road. From there, you can catch a local taxi or a 'maxi taxi' that goes to the Caroni Bird Sanctuary. Alternatively, you can walk approximately 2 kilometers along Caroni South Bank Road to reach the sanctuary.
