Car
To reach Pian Upe Game Reserve from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park by car, start by exiting the park via the main road towards Kabale. Drive towards the town of Kabale, which is approximately 60 km from the southern edge of Bwindi. Once in Kabale, continue on the main road towards Mbarara. After about 120 km, you will reach Mbarara. From Mbarara, take the road towards Soroti, which is approximately 140 km away. As you approach Soroti, look for signs indicating the direction to Pian Upe Game Reserve. The reserve is situated about 30 km from Soroti town. The total journey can take around 4-6 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. Ensure you have enough fuel and check for any road conditions before setting out.

Public Transportation
For those preferring public transportation, you can take a matatu (shared taxi) from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Kabale. From Kabale, switch to another matatu heading to Mbarara. In Mbarara, find a matatu that goes to Soroti. The journey from Bwindi to Soroti will require at least two transfers and can take approximately 6-8 hours, depending on waiting times and road conditions. Once in Soroti, you can hire a motorcycle taxi or a private car to reach Pian Upe Game Reserve, which is about 30 km away from Soroti town. Be sure to ask locals for the best routes and ensure you have enough cash for transport.

Once you arrive in Soroti, hiring a motorcycle taxi (boda-boda) is a convenient way to travel the final stretch to Pian Upe Game Reserve. Ensure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey.
