Getting There

• Walking

  If you are in the center of Lira town, start by heading west on Main Street. Continue walking straight until you reach the junction with the Lira Municipal Hall on your right side. At this junction, take a left turn onto a smaller road (you may see signs indicating local shops and eateries). Follow this road for about 10 minutes until you reach a roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit. You are now on a road heading directly towards the western suburbs of Lira. Continue straight for another 15 minutes. Julius Okoch Gardens will be on your left, just after you pass a small market area. Look for the entrance which is marked with a sign. The gardens are a popular local spot so you might see some locals who can provide further directions.

• Bicycle

  For those who prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Lira town. Start your ride from the town center heading west down Main Street. After about 5 minutes, you will reach the Lira Municipal Hall; turn left here onto a smaller road. Cycle straight for around 10 minutes until you reach a roundabout. Take the second exit at the roundabout and continue cycling for 15 more minutes. Julius Okoch Gardens will be on your left. There are bike racks available near the entrance for you to securely park your bicycle.

• Boda Boda (motorcycle taxi)

  To use a boda boda, find a designated boda boda stage in Lira town, typically located near the main market area. Approach a boda boda rider and inform them you want to go to Julius Okoch Gardens in the west. The ride should take around 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey. The rider will navigate through the roads, and you can simply tell them to drop you off at the entrance of the gardens.
